And I'm amazed at how much time has flown since my last posting, I guess my new shift had messed me up more than I though.  That, and I thought I had already posted this one:

Adventures of Peter Wheat 8 ready for download.  16 pages of rare Walt Kelly goodness!

And back to the editing chair for me, now that I've got JVJ's targets scanned.  But we'll start off with a book of my own:

Adventures of Peter Wheat 32 now ready for download.  Thom posted it for me a while ago on his Whirled of Kelly blog, but it's good to have it here as well.

I do have another Peter Wheat on the way, as is usual with Kelly finds I'll let Thom show it off first. But it won't take me nearly as long to get it here as this one did!

And just in time for Eisner's Birthday:

Spirit section from 11-7-1948.  The section had dropped to 8 pages by this point.  Enjoy!

Always glad to see another Spirit section. Would that today's newspapers could do something similiar.

Very nice Eric, sorry I didn't post up earlier on it. Thank you for the upload, an excellent example of Eisner's art at/from the time period.

You're all welcome, I also just got the 1943-06-06 section up.  Which is not nearly as impressive, but still a nice book.  Still working on the Targets, 16 pages is so much easier to edit than 68...

I'm still amazed I got the Plaster of Paris story, as I think I said that's my all-time favorite Spirit.  And given how rare the Spirit sections in general are, and the post-1946 issues in particular, it's an issue I've wanted for years and years but never, ever expected to actually have a chance to get.  Does anybody know when the sections went from 16 pages to 8?  I know the exact date varied by paper, but I wonder what exactly the range is.

And a small post today, I finally found another issue of Peter Wheat News.  This one is only the comic pages, so I don't know what issue it is.  (I can narrow it down to about 11 possibles, but that's it.)   The story is part 2 of 3, so no beginning and no ending.  But it's four of the rarest pages of Walt Kelly art you'll ever see.

Members owe it to themselves to go the the excellent Walt Kelly blog - http://whirledofkelly.blogspot.com/
To read all about this latest scan from Eric here.  A lot of work and love went into unearthing this extremely rare and breath-taking scan.

Many many thanks to Eric and Thomas for sharing it here!

Thanks for your latest 'Peter Wheat' upload Eric.
Your just one step closer to post up all of the Peter Wheats.
