Due to popular demand, Some of us at Comic Book Plus have started translating books from our Non-English Language comic book section.  So far, they've been Italian, Dutch, Spanish, and Chilean productions of Golden Age Science-Fiction,  detective/crime, and Masked/Mystery men crimefighter genre books.  It opens up more and/or better enjoyment for fans of Golden Age stories and artwork, from more countries, for GA fans who are not fluent in these languages.

You can find our new CB+ Scanilation Section at this location:

Yes it's an ambitious project and one we hope will be popular.
Robb has done an amazing job with the 3 Dutch comics from the '40's. 2 are beeldromans, the 3rd is a lilliput, so I'm also happy wearing my other, odd formats hat.
The problem with the tiny beeldromans is digging up other examples.  The ones we have were the result of a lot of digging by me and colleagues.  If anyone can point us to De Kat or Spot Morton, that would be great

I'll keep an eye out.  I'm torn between the clean translations (with English replacing the text entirely) and some of the ones that are done with the language side by side as a preference.  Either way - great project!

Ours just have the original language removed, which I believe provides the choice of reading the book as if it were an original edition issued in the country of the 2nd language; while not precluding reading the story with both languages available, as CB+ makes available both the original and translated issues.  The reader can simply use 2 desktop windows side-by-side, containing the analogous story page from the original book, and the scanlated book, and read both versions' narrative boxes and word balloons one after the other.

Ah, I saw Captain Jupiter by Narfstar and the Eng was off to the side of the original language.  That does look like the only one that is that way. (I went straight for the sci-fi)

Capitán Jupiter has enough panel room to place the translation on the same page and have it be readable, although, for me, the panels are then, too cluttered to make for enjoyable reading.  I think it's a nicer option for the reader to read both versions as if they were both original issues in the different languages, side-by-side, and can compare the different ways of thinking and expressing one's self in the two languages, while not cluttering up the panels, and lessening the reading enjoyment.  Maybe Narfstar didn't have a computer drawing/layout program capable of erasing the existing text?  In any case, now that we have separate sections to house the original language version AND the Scanlations, readers can read both versions side-by-side.

Check out "Fulgor", too.  It's Italian Sci-Fi from 1953-54, with excellent artwork, and a decent story.  Unfortunately, we have only 6 of its 48 issues.  We hope we can find more.
