Frankenstein 011 (now c2c) -upgrade
« on: January 23, 2023, 04:22:52 AM »
Comic Name: Frankenstein 011 (now c2c) -upgrade (32.55 MB)
Description: Formerly missing ifc, ibc.  Confirmed by online auction fills now added to complete the scan.
Scanned from a coverless copy, so the fc is from HAG and the bc from an issue of Prize.
The outer wrap was damaged & dirty; pages 1-2 were beautifully fixed (& cleaned up) by Yoc using the old upload of the first story.
A freddyfly original production!

A question. On the BC in this version, the Illinois Merchant Mart ad uses "Dept. 2343-A 1227". However, on the BC of an actual sold copy, the Dept. is 2303-A,1227. (https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/9KQAAOSw~qpjjQQW/s-l1600.jpg) The same question can be asked about the IBC ad for the Wilson Chemical Company and the IFC ad for the New York Skin Laboratory. How do others feel about this? Do the matches need to be precise, or is "close enough" good enough?

Hi Irek, There was a Worthpoint ad with poor images but enough to know which ads were missing.  The dept. numbers weren't clear on them.  The fills used here are from different books - ibc is from Pep #65; bc is from an unknown Prize Western.  I know there are some out there that want the exact ad and I try to find them but in this case we felt this was 'good enough' while listing the sources in the jpg file names.

If you want, you could insert this page into your copy: https://photos.app.goo.gl/JMKNeCZyKXoU9Tav5

It has the number corrected, as well as the cutout moved down (off of the "Wagon" text) to more closely match the eBay version: https://photos.app.goo.gl/4zAVyGprzQJ9qJay8

tronvillain - Thanks, but there are two problems. First, no comma in the Dept. Number; and, second, the type is black instead of blue. I just used the one at the link I posted. I'm not trying to be pedantic about this. I'm just wondering how close we need to get before we call it done. Obviously, the best way to go is a scan of an original copy. But until then, what do we call it...?

Okay, so more work turned up another sold eBay item -- and the inside front cover doesn't appear to match either. The DCM version says "206 Division Street, Department 271" but the sold copy says "2__ (can't make it out) Division Street, Dept. 285. ... https://www.ebay.com/itm/314209416391?hash=item49285734c7%3Ag%3A3ZwAAOSwcfBjWDlm&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoEVfc4L%2Fm1GlFxHlhphlq%2BxE8ib00%2BJ7vu7GNxtPp1Ouf0QGD7Q%2FgNEp1SS6qcSn28XeQR2GWLkerP%2FrafZ79vhKCWUt1QpSIjf%2FT0HHebnAoS5CmzXNiLpyfE85yt9TVjoyZBq0eofyF%2B%2FfJ0w%2ByOU6HB3NASLpJjRfobgK5zF8tiiDbG5sxAtHQBMinup%2BVkAMauE8aTfZifwwGCrPxd4%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR6yOlMi-YQ&nma=true&si=tZnnULJl7gx910l4T2KOqQ26%252BOc%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 ... And, not surprisingly, the Inside Back Cover doesn't match either. The DCM version says "Dept. PC 141, while the eBay version says Dept. F__ (again the scans are too lo-res to make out). Now, you could take these lo-res versions and plug them in to make a real C2C version, but with the fills too lo-res to read properly. Or you could just leave it the heck alone. But if there's one lesson to be taken away, it's that you should always check the SOLD items on eBay as well as the current items. (Personally, I'm going to to stick the lo-res versions in a folder to be stored with the DCM version until I feel like doing something about it -- or not).
