An announcement from Ivan Kocmarek-

Hi Everybody….

A quick announcement that beginning on June 18 and ending on June 28 there will be an Ebay auction of strictly Canadian comic books and related material. The auction will run on Big B Comics Ebay seller site under the seller name “internationalcollectiblesexchange” (all one lower case word). Proceeds from the auction will go towards helping fund 80th Anniversary of Canadian Comic Books projects such as the reprint of Better Comics No. 1. I don't buy comics online, but I would've loved to have seen the images for the EC reprints. I have been collecting cover scans for many years in an attempt to have a complete cover gallery online.

Hi D,
The Canadian EC's were published by Superior who did a ton of US reprints.
You can look up their covers here - https://www.comics.org/publisher/223/?page=1.
The ECs are on page 3.

Have fun!

Thanks, but I knew that. I've been collecting scans for many years. I have the most complete set of scans online, but some they show aren't posted on my site (yet). They have some in really rough shape that I'm not showing yet. I do some touch-ups to get as good a quality representation as I can find. I'm always looking for better quality images.

The index listing confirmed & unconfirmed:

Just the covers...

Actually, I think I have the most complete listing of foreign reprints and remaindered images online also..

Grant Geissman said some nice things about the Superior/EC page.
He writes all the great books on EC. The page had moved online and he was asking some people on Facebook if they knew where it was.

Collecting the other foreign comic scans involves digging through websites that are written in languages I can't read.
My hobby now is more related to collecting information on comics and less into buying over-priced products.

Hi praise for sure!
Ah, you are on FB.  I was thinking their EC Fanatic group would be a great place to find cover scans.

You must be familiar with the work of Ken Quattro, the Comics Detective.  I love the obscure comics history he's always finding out there.  http://www.comicsdetective.com/

I am not on Facebook. My account was blocked after repeatedly doing captchas to confirm I'm not a bot. I decided I was happier not using Facebook. I did not contest the block. I have limited access to view the group without an account. I've switched over to using decentralized social media like Mastodon & Friendica. Mastodon is a Twitter equivalent that has a fairly large user base. Friendica is struggling to get users, but it is a Facebook equivalent. I like them both better than the corporate owned Twitter & Facebook.

I have communicated with some people in the Facebook group, including the guy who runs it. It is a source for images occasionally, but the primary collectors who buy these usually post horribly skewed photographs with poor lighting and reflective glare which washes out the colors. In all honesty, I don't believe that the people collecting these want anyone promoting them. It makes them harder to buy and the prices they have to pay are greater. I will admit it is one of the better Facebook groups with an immense amount of knowledge being shared by noteworthy industry people & collectors.

When I click these links I'm getting "Your Internet access is blocked

I've tried 2 browsers and it's the same.

Here's what you need to understand.

I use free hosting.

1) Free hosting means that the "atwebpages.com" is also hosting hundreds of other sites from users like me as well as sites that may have been placed by people who uploaded malicious content. Antivirus software or other security software will sometimes block it at the base level domain name of "atwebpages.com" without actually checking my pages at "comicchecklist.atwebpages.com" Your security software may have the domain on a blacklist and be blocking access to my site.

2) Free hosting is flaky. Sometimes they'll take content offline for 24 hours. Sometimes the page may load but half the images don't. They offer free hosting as bait to get you to upgrade, but then the service is so bad that no one in their right mind would ever want to upgrade.

I'm compiling this content and making it available for free. Personally, I'm not going to pay for hosting just so I can give away free content. That's just not an option I wish to pursue.
It's just a hobby for me and it's a "not for profit" service.

As to your not being able to see anything:
Suggestion #1 - Try again periodically and see if the error message is the same. It may mysteriously start working. It might be a glitch on the hosting side.
Suggestion #2 - Go to a site like this and paste in the URL for my pages. https://www.proxysite.com/   That might bypass your security software from incorrectly blacklisting the content. It'll load through the proxy domain name instead. (Important edit: NEVER use a site like that to log in to Facebook or any site where you enter a username and password. It's possible for them to harvest your username and password and sell it to people. It's only good for static websites like mine.)
Suggestion #3 - Search through all the security software and see if there is a way to whitelist the domain. I don't think it's really worth the effort to do that, but it may solve the problem.

All I can say is... I click the links and they work for me here and at work. The other day, I clicked the link and the page loaded, but not all the images loaded. I clicked reload/refresh and all the images then loaded.

Good luck.

Your links are working fine for me atm.

And I completely understand your not wanting to use FB or Twitter.  I am only on it because of DCM.  I have met some very nice fellow comic fans and enjoy that aspect but a lot of the experience is very off-putting.

GL with your EC project,
-Yoc
