Best Golden Age Funny Animal book?

(1/2) > >>

Calamity Jon:
Hey all,

What's your recommendation for the best Golden Age funny animal book? There were enough of them that some gems must have shown up, but I honestly cannot find much in this genre worth holding onto. There are some great funny animal features in some anthology titles -- Terrific Whatsit, Cockrobin Hood -- but I was hoping to find a good funny animal title with a variety of quality tales. (Fawcett's Funny Animals is pretty good across the board, as an example, although that's largely only the Grothkopf stories).

Thanks!
-Jon

SuperScrounge:
Robb K, over at the Comic Book Plus forum is a big funny animal fan, so you might want to check over there and get his opinion.

erwin-k:
Walt Kelly's Peter Wheat is fun.

Unfortunately, a bunch of the best funny animal stuff is not public domain.
