Synopsis: Bonnie’s parents are very strict, so she sneaks out to date Bill. He proposes marriage; when Bonnie’s parents find out, they beat her. Her “father” says he is really her uncle: her real father was a murderer and her “mother was a--well, no better!” They fear Bonnie has “bad blood.” Bonnie breaks up with Bill. Bill brings Professor Sternberg, “head of the psychiatric department at State University,” to tell Bonnie “your fears are absolutely groundless! There is no such thing as ‘bad blood’…crime…is caused by environment…” Bonnie’s adoptive parents apologize and Bonnie can now marry Bill.

Comic Story (8 pages) I Wanted a Real Man
Synopsis: Eve is “disappointed” at the “emptiness” she feels in her marriage to George, who seems to take her for granted. They go on a Caribbean cruise and Eve meets handsome Hal Villon. They fall in love and George offers to give Eve a divorce “if that’s what you want, dear.” Hal is taken aback at this news, and when the ship begins to sink, he shows that he’s a selfish coward and George proves his bravery and love for Eve. Afterwards, Eve and George reconcile although he’s “the same old George!”

Synopsis: Brenda dates Allan but “the spark was missing.” She prefers college basketball player Fred and dumps Allan, saying “I could never love you! You’re just not my type!” However, Fred makes it clear he’s not interested in a long-term commitment so Brenda turns to Tony on the rebound. She finds him “weak and unassuming” but agrees to marry him anyway. Fred says he and Brenda “can still have fun” but Tony steps and knocks him out. Brenda realizes “Tony was willing to battle to the death to hold my love” and decides he’s the man she loves.

Synopsis: Rita has an inferiority complex about her appearance from an early age: her own mother says she “looks like a circus clown!” with her snub nose, red hair and freckles. In college, Rita decides to become a “hot number” who doesn’t “object to a little fast romance” and thus attracts many young men. When Rita meets Al and he professes his love for her, Rita doesn’t believe he’s sincere. She tries to return to her old ways, but can’t stop thinking of Al. Al returns and says he loves “the real you”--they decide to get married.
