Synopsis: Karen set out to marry Ralph Ednie. His friend Harriet Barnes and his son David thought Ralph was only interested in Karen due to her resemblance to his late wife. Karen found she preferred David, but accepted Ralph's proposal anyway. On hearing of the engagement, David rode away on his horse and died in an accident. Karen admitted she was only interested in Ralph for his money and freed him to marry Harriet.
