Comment: Great art. It would be cool if the story included a nod to Andrew Jackson Beard, a black engineer who invented the Jenny Coupler and effectively replaced the dangerous link-and-pin manual coupling described in the text. But I guess some folks (like me) can have ... er ... too many fingers in the pie. Williamson's art on this railway give-away is excellent, as always.

Issue: #[nn]
Published: 1969 ?, Price: 0.00 FREE, Pages: 28, Editing:
Color: Color Cover Dimensions: Paper Stock: Binding: Saddle-stitched Publishing Format: One-Shot
Notes: Given the 1965 and 1969 editions http://www.comics.org/issue/393905/ and http://www.comics.org/issue/933684/ (and its variant issue/1034838/), it was noted in group chat that "it is probable that the second is a reprint and not a duplicate. The Publisher in 1965 was Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen which merged in 1969 with three other unions to form United Transportation Union. So it could have reissued the comic in 1969 under its new name." Reprint of Cliff Merritt Sets the Record Straight (Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, 1965 series). According to Angelo Torres, Alex Kotzky (who drew Apartment 3G) was originally asked to do Cliff Merritt Sets the Record Straight in 1964. The strip kept him too busy and he asked Al Williamson to do the job. Al, in turn, recruited Torres to collaborate. They did this job together. In 1966, Kotzky was again approached to do Cliff Merritt and the Very Candid Candidate. Kotzky again turned to Williamson, but now busy with Secret Agent Corrigan he asked Angelo to do it. Torres drew and inked the entire issue alone. Williamson did not work on the second issue... it is all Torres.
