Horror Writer Who Murders for Other Worldly Inspiration

Hi all,

I am looking for this comic I read as a kid in the 80s, though I am pretty sure it was a reprint.  It might have been by Wolverton.  Definitely an old style.

Here is the plot: a horror or sci fi writer makes a deal with the some kind of demonic entity in order to write well again.  But in exchange for seeing ghoulish apparitions (dreams?) which in turn give him inspiration to write best selling stories, he has to go out and murder ome person at night.  As time goes by, his fame and fortune dwindle and he is forced to do one last murder so he can once again see the diabolical oracle of inspiration.  Only it turns out this one last murder...was his wife.
